The Jowa Group's Approach to CSR

At the Jowa Group, we have made “social and environmental contribution” a core part of our corporate philosophy. We are promoting the following initiatives to achieve mutual harmony and prosperity with society and the environment.

Social Contribution

Contribute to local communities and Japanese society, and provide high-quality, comfortable spaces

The Jowa Group operates real estate, hotel, and golf course businesses. Through its three core businesses, the Jowa Group seeks to be the “customer's choice” and to realize mutual harmony and prosperity with society, including with its customers. In this way, the Jowa Group aims to contribute to society as a good corporate citizen.

The Jowa Group consistently views its business from the perspective of its customers, aiming to deliver superior quality marked by exceptional attention to detail. The Jowa Group is deepening its bonds of trust with society over the long term by providing high-quality, comfortable, and safe spaces and services in its office buildings, hotels, and golf courses.

The Jowa Group provides comfortable office spaces through renovation projects, promotes urban development in harmony with local communities through its community redevelopment projects, and offers facilities and spaces such as shelters for local communities during disasters. The Group believes that these contributions to local communities are an important part of its corporate social responsibility.

<Example of Initiatives>

In January 2009, The Group made an agreement with Yachiyo City, Chiba Prefecture, to provide facilities for an evacuation site at Yachiyo Golf Club, a site owned and managed by the Jowa Group, so as to provide relief to victims in the event of a disaster.

The agreement specifically encompasses the following:

  1. The provision of well water;
  2. Support for toilets and bathing facilities;
  3. Storage for relief goods and materials essential for restoration work utilities; and
  4. Other relief activities for victims.

Environmental Contribution

Conduct business with consideration for the global environment

The Jowa Group actively promotes environmentally conscious business activities throughout its office building, hotel, and golf course operations, including enhancing the energy-efficiency of its facilities, reducing the generation of waste, and lowering CO2 emissions.

Energy Efficiency

The Jowa Group strives to conserve electricity and water at its office buildings, hotels, and other facilities through the adoption of inverter-type and LED lighting, air conditioning controls, superior double-paned glass, waterproof asphalt with high heat insulation, and water-saving sanitary fixtures. Regarding the target of 15% reduction in electricity in the aftermath of the nuclear power problem that followed the Great East Japan Earthquake, the group was quick to use lighting brownouts and adjust the temperature settings of its air conditioners as part of its proactive efforts to support energy efficiency.

Waste Reduction

Some of the office buildings operated by the Jowa Group reduce and recycle waste, reusing it as fertilizer. Hotels operated by the Jowa Group are promoting reductions in waste generation.

CO2 Emissions Reduction

The Jowa Group strives to lower CO2 emissions by reducing electricity and water consumption and waste generation, installing rooftop green spaces as well as reusing rainwater in sprinkling systems.

We have created rooftop, patio and open air green spaces in Hotel Unizo Shibuya and Hotel Unizo Osaka Yodoyabashi.

The Jowa Group will diligently carry out each of its initiatives to fulfill part of its responsibilities as a corporate citizen based on the slogan “social and environmental contribution.”
We hope these initiatives will support the development of local communities and Japanese society.
